The 18th span ‘3-E ’of the Padma Bridge will be installed on Wednesday between the pillars 17 and 18. After the installation of the span, a total of 2700 meters or almost 2.7 km of the bridge will become visible.

Humayun Kabir, Assistant Engineer of Padma Bridge, confirmed the information, saying that the span will depart at around 9:30 am by the floating crane ‘Tinai’ from the Mawa Construction Yard-1 for the pillars 17 and 18. “If the weather is favorable, the 18th  span of the bridge will be permanently installed.”

It was learned that all the challenging tasks of the bridge completed. Out of the 33 spans that came into the country, 17 were installed. There are five spans ready and remaining are 11 spans.

In the meantime, two spans were installed in just one week. In December, a total of three spans placement schedules including 4-C and 3-F. Other works, including roadway slabs and railway slabs of the bridge, are also under schedule.

According to the project details, the construction of the 6.15 kilometer long Padma Bridge is going on in full swing with the target to complete it as soon as possible.

China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Company Limited, a Chinese contractor, is working to construct the main bridge.

On October 14, 2018, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the name plaque of Padma Bridge Toll Plaza at the Mawa end.

The first span of the Padma Bridge was installed on September 30, 2017.
