If everything goes well, the 17th span of the much-awaited Padma Bridge will be installed on Tuesday. The 150-meter long span will be placed between the pillars 22 and 23 of the bridge. Earlier at 9:00 am, the span will be taken to the pillars.

The bridge construction company – China Major Bridge Engineering Company — said this the Bangladesh Bridge Authority on Monday. Another Span will be installed this month, said Shafiqul Islam, project manager of the bridge.

A total of 41 spans will be installed on 42 concrete pillars to complete the bridge. Of these, 31 spans were brought from China to the bridge area. Among these, 16 spans were installed so far.

On November 16, the 16th span of the Padma Bridge was installed between the pillars 16 and 17. After the installation of the span, a total of 2400 meters or almost 2.5 km of the bridge became visible.

The construction work on the country's largest bridge started in December 2015. On October 14, 2018, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the name plaque of Padma Bridge Toll Plaza at the Mawa end. The works of Padma Multipurpose Bridge became visible with the installation of 150-metre first span on the pillars no 37 and 38 on October 30, 2017.
