PX3’s “Best New Talent 2020” Bangladeshi M R Hasan

A photo series titled ‘The Last Savings’ by Bangladeshi documentary photographer Mohammad Rakibul Hasan has been the winner as “Best New Talent 2020” in Prix de la Photographie, Paris (PX3).
The economic downturn caused by Coronavirus affected the lives of low-income and unemployed people in Bangladesh. These messages were creatively reflected in his photo series.
In a press release, the organizers said that this year, more than 5,000 pictures from 120 countries were submitted to the competition. Alberto Giuliani of Italy has been recognized as the “Photographer of the Year”. In addition to these two major awards, there are Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals and Honorable Mention awards. There were a total of eight categories in the exhibition and contest.
The works of winners are being exhibited in Paris and will be published in PX3 Annual Book.
M R Hasan told Daily Bangladesh, “It was indeed a great honor for me winning the “Prix de la Photographie, Paris” (P×3) with a title the “Best New Talent” for my photographic series “The Last Savings” that was a photo story on economic recession due to COVID-19 pandemic in Korail slum in Bangladesh. The organizer of the contest is going to donate the same amount of money USD $2000, to help those unfortunate families I photographed and I will also donate from my award money. Being a concerned photographer, I am glad that I will be able to contribute a little change in their life.”
In addition to this award, M R Hassan won several other awards including LB Brown Memorial Prize, Lucy Award, UNIC, Sofia University Award of Excellence.
Mr. Hasan is currently working as a freelance documentary photographer and documentary maker in different international organizations and media.
