PM to inaugurate `Mango Special Train` Thursday

The 'Mango Special Train' will run again to transport mangoes and vegetables at low cost from Rajshahi to Dhaka. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the train service joining virtually from her Ganabhaban resident at 11:30 am on Thursday.
Bangladesh Railway Western Region General Manager (GM) Mihir Kanti Guha told reporters after inspecting the Chapainawabganj railway station at 11am on Wednesday.
After the inauguration, the train will start its journey at 4 pm and reach Rajshahi station at 5.15 pm and Kamalapur station in Dhaka at 2 pm. It will cost Tk 1.17 per kg only on the train while the courier service cost is around Tk 20 per kg.
Chief Commercial Manager (West) of Railways Mohammad Ahsan Ullah Bhunya, Chief Operating Superintendent Shahidul Islam and Chief Mechanical Engineer Kudurat E Khuda were present at this time.
It is to be mentioned that due to the corona situation, this special train named 'Mango Special Train' was launched last year to facilitate the transportation of Rajshahi mango, litchi, and other vegetable products. Last year, 598 tons of raw material were transported in June and 259 tons in July. By transporting 656 tons of goods, the railway authorities earned Tk9, 29,869.
