Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina congratulated Bangladesh National Cricket Team on their victory against West Indies in their crucial match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
In a message, Sheikh Hasina greeted all the players, coach and officials of the national cricket team as well as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials concerned for winning the match.
The premier also expressed the hope that the winning spree of the Bangladesh cricket team would continue in future.
Riding on the back-to-back tons by Shakib Al Hasan and a brisk half-century by Liton Das, Bangladesh registered a comfortable seven-wicket victory with 51 balls to spare against West Indies in their fifth game of the ongoing World Cup at Taunton on Monday.
Chasing a record total of 321 runs, the rampant Tigers reached the target scoring 322 runs for three in 41.3 overs.
The Prime Minister also talked to Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das over the telephone for their outstanding performance in the match.
Shakib remained unbeaten on 124 off 99 balls with 16 fours while Liton was on 94 off 69 with eight fours and four sixes.
Bangladesh never won a game in World Cups chasing as many runs. This win brought the Tigers to the 5th position of the points table.
