PM asks NSI to work sincerely
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today asked the National Security Intelligence (NSI) personnel to work sincerely for making the country free from terrorism, militancy, drug and corruption.
“I want each employee of NSI to discharge their duties with sincerity and honesty being imbued with patriotism,” she said.

The premier was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the newly built headquarters building of NSI, joining virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban.
Referring to the government’s stance against militancy, terrorism, drug and corruption, Sheikh Hasina said NSI will have to do whatever is required to protect the people’s life, livelihood, properties and interest as well as ensure peace in society.
Asking NSI to remain alert always, she said Bangladesh has attained the status of a developing nation and would be a developed country by 2041 if “you people perform your responsibilities perfectly”.
“We will turn Bangladesh into a developed and prosperous nation, Inshallah,” she said.
Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Kaikaus conducted the ceremony while NSI Director General (DG) Major General TM Jobaer delivered the welcome address.
Prime Minister’s Security Affairs Adviser Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique was present at Ganabhaban end while State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed was at NSI headquarters.
At the function, a video on NSI activities and the newly built building was screened.
The Prime Minister said the country’s law and order situation remains under control due to the hard work and activities of NSI members and as a result, a congenial atmosphere for development is now prevailing in the country.
Referring to the fresh surge of Covid-19 pandemic, she asked the authorities concerned to perform their duties effectively to stop the spread of coronavirus by implementing the new directives from the government.
She also reiterated her call to the people to follow the health safety protocols properly.
“We’ve already issued some directives to check coronavirus. You all will have to pay special attention so that the people follow the directives properly,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina asked all to raise public awareness so people follow the health safety guidelines. “All will have to keep themselves protected and protect others. You all who are in-charge throughout the country will have to perform your duties properly,” she added.
She said her government is much conscious about keeping the economic activities running, but the first priority is to save the lives of people.
About the ongoing vaccination, she said the inoculation campaign will continue, but awareness among the people about coronavirus has to be created.
Mentioning that various countries across the world witnessed economic slowdown due to the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister said Bangladesh has been able to keep the economic activities rolling and its economic growth rate is higher than other South Asian countries.
“Bangladesh is moving ahead and Bangladesh will continue its forward marching. Coronavirus may hinder it to some extent, but we can overcome this situation,” she hoped.
Extending her thanks to the NSI members for playing a role in fighting the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, she asked them to play a more significant role this time.
On January 17, 2015, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the 20-storey building for the NSI head office.
