PCR lab set up in Sheikh Fazilatunnessa hospital

A new PCR lab for coronavirus test has been set up at Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing College in Gazipur.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque inaugurated the lab on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the establishment of a PCR lab for coronavirus test in Gazipur, inhabited by garment workers, is very significant. “More than 300 samples can be collected and tested in the lab every day. The results can be given within 24 hours.”
This will make it possible to take necessary measures for the treatment of coronavirus patients quickly, he added.
According to the hospital authorities, the fee set by the government at other private hospitals is Tk 4,000 but the coronavirus test will be done at the hospital at only Tk 500 on the instructions of the Prime Minister.
Executive Member of Bangabandhu Memorial Trust Major General (Retd) Abdul Hafiz Mallik, Mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Advocate Md. Jahangir Alam and Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Tariqul Islam were present on the occasion.
