Oxford-AstraZeneca’s 2nd shipment arriving in afternoon

The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, a gift from Japan’s government under COVAX access, is arriving in Dhaka on Saturday.
Sources said that a cargo plane of All Nippon Airways will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital at around 3:15 pm today.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque will receive the invoice at the airport. Japanese Ambassador to Dhaka Ito Naoki is also expected to be present.
Earlier, the Nippon Airways cargo plane left Narita International Airport at 11:40 pm local time in Japan with a vaccine shipment. During this, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin was present at the airport.
The information was obtained on the Facebook page of the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo on Friday evening.
On July 24, in the first phase, 245,200 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine reached Dhaka. Another consignment of 600,000 Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines from Japan is expected to arrive in Dhaka on August 3.
Bangladesh is getting a total of 13 lakh vaccines in these two shipments. In all, Japan will give 30 lakh (3 million) vaccines to Bangladesh.
