Over 5 lakh new infected in a day globally

In the last 24 hours, 504,419 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 7,104 died from the pandemic. The United States has seen the highest number of deaths from the pandemic and infections during the period.
As of Thursday morning, a total of 44,774,763 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,179,225 while 32,727,598 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
The US, the worst-hit country in the world, has registered 1,030 deaths and 81,581 new cases in the last 24 hours. The country is still at the top in coronavirus deaths and infections. A total of 233,130 people died in the country due to the pandemic and 9,120,751 have been infected so far.
Mexico has seen the second-highest death toll of 643 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 89,814. The total number of cases has exceeded to 901,268 with 5,942 new infections.
India reported 49,912 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 8,038,765 while 7,314,951 people have recuperated so far. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 120,563 with 509 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours. India has the second-highest number of active cases and ranks third in the COVID-19 death toll.
Brazil has registered the third-highest death toll of 487 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 158,468 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 5,469,755 as 28,852 new cases were confirmed during the period.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 215 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
