Over 22,000 new cases in India, highest single-day surge

Epidemic coronavirus infection is on the rise in India. The country has recorded more than 22,000 new cases in the last 24 hours. Besides, 377 more people have died in the last one day.
According to worldometer, so far, 18,225 people have died from the deadly virus infection out of 627,168 coronavirus cases in India. Of them, 379,902 have recovered.
India ranks fourth in the list of countries with the highest prevalence of coronavirus. The highest number of patients were identified in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana.
In Maharashtra, 6,328 people have been infected in the last 24 hours. The total death toll in the state is more than 8,000 with 125 new deaths. Tamil Nadu is second only to Maharashtra in the number of deaths and infections caused by coronavirus. A total of 4,343 new cases and 57 deaths have been reported in the state.
2,337 people have been newly infected with coronavirus in Delhi. The total number of infected has increased to more than 90,000. The death toll raised to 864 with 61 new deaths.
The emphasis was initially on the social distance to prevent infection. But now there are no lockdown restrictions. With the commencement of economic activities, the crowds of people have increased in the markets and public transport. The possibility of coming in contact with each other has also increased.
