Over 1 crore families received govt rice

Over one crore families across the country have received relief provided by the government affected by the coronavirus epidemic and cyclone Amphan. According to reports, 2,35,427 metric tons of rice were provided as relief assistant.

This was informed in a virtual meeting on the activities taken by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief during coronavirus pandemic, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.
Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said this at a press briefing held at the Secretariat after the cabinet meeting.

According to the cabinet secretary, Tk 100 crore 96 lakh 72 thousand 284 in cash, Tk 29 crore 14 lakh as baby food, and Tk 3 crore 60 lakh 80 thousand as the purchase of cattle have been distributed.

He said that apart from this, 5,900 bundles of tin and cash assistance of Tk 1.6 crore has been provided for housing. 1,68,000 metric tons of VGF (Vulnerable Group Feeding) rice has been distributed among 1,00,06,869 families. Besides, 1,98,000 packets of dry food have been provided.
