Irregularities in relief distribution
One more UP chairman and member suspended

One UP chairman and another member have been suspended for alleged irregularities in the distribution of government rice and relief.
An order in this regard has been issued by the local government division on Thursday.
It has been said that Hadi Humayun Kabir, chairman of Bana UP No. 5 in Alfadanga upazila of Faridpur district, has been suspended for irregularities and embezzlement in the distribution of rice of the distressed women development program.
Besides, Zillur Rahman, a member of Ward 2 of Rajiura UP under Sadar upazila of Habiganj district, has been suspended on charges of irregularities in distribution of rice in food-friendly programs, and irregularities in government relief distribution and embezzlement.
The order states that they have been suspended under the Local Government (Union Parishad) Act-2009.
Meanwhile, a separate notice has been sent to the local government department through the concerned DC within 10 working days of receipt of the reply as to why they will not be finally removed.
A total of 104 public representatives have been suspended since the outbreak of the coronavirus. Among them are 33 UP chairmen, 65 UP members, one district council member, four municipal councilors and one upazila vice-chairman.
