At least one man was killed and ten others were injured during a clash between police and stone workers in Tetulia upazila of Panchagarh.

The incident took place on Sunday morning in the Bhajanpur area of the Tetulia-Dhaka highway in Panchagarh. The deceased was identified as Jumar Uddin, son of Deburu of Ganagaz area of Bhojpur UP.

Mohammad Yusuf Ali, Panchagarh SP, said that the two groups of workers and owners of the Bhajanpur area blocked the Bangabandhu highway in the morning to demand lifting of the stone. Then police rushed to the spot to normalize the vehicle movement during the time the protesters threw bricks and brickbats at the police. Police fired teargas shells to bring the situation under control. A number of people, including Zuma Uddin, were injured in the incident. The injured were rushed to Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital and Zuma Uddin died while under treatment there.
