Oil tanker collision in Chattogram port, closes vessels movement

An oil tanker collision with a feeder vessel occurred in Chattogram Port Channel.
The incident took place on Friday around 8:00 am at the adjacent part of the Chattogram Dry Dock of Karnaphuli Channel and Boat Club, said Port Secretary Omar Faruque.
After the collision, the port authorities temporarily suspended the movement of the Chittagong Port Channel.
However, there was no incident of casualties in the collision of Feeder Ship Express Mahananda and oil tanker MT Burgan.
“The Express Mahananda carrying 750 containers from Sri Lanka was entering the Mahananda port. And During this, MT Burgan was going out of the channel to the sea. At the time, there was a collision between two vessels in the channel,” said Secretary Faruk.
The two ships were not affected in this incident. Attempts are being made to move to a safe distance by five tugboats. Due to this, the movement of the ship with the channel has been temporarily closed.
