The office hours of all government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions have been made six and a half hours (6.30 hours) instead of eight hours.

The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister at her office in the capital on Monday.

After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam briefed reporters at the conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat.

He said, “The office hours of all government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions during the month of Ramadan will start at 9:00 am and will end at 3:30 pm.”

“There will be a break from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm for Zuhr prayer. That is, the office hours will be six and a half hours instead of eight hours. And Friday and Saturday will be weekends,” he also said.

The Cabinet Secretary said banks, insurance, other financial institutions, vehicles, railways, hospitals, state-owned enterprises, factories and other institutions whose services are the most urgent will determine their own office schedules according to their own rules considering the public interest.
