OIC to stand by Bangladesh to ensure Rohingya repatriation

Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has pledged to continue to support Bangladesh to ensure the dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to Rakhine in Myanmar.
He made the call when the newly appointed Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwari presented his credentials to the Secretary-General of the Organization to serve as the permanent representative of Bangladesh in OIC.
During the meeting, the Ambassador discussed various bilateral issues with the OIC Secretary-General. Discussions were held to increase the cooperation of the organization with Bangladesh.
Referring to the ongoing trial in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for the genocide against the Rohingya, the Secretary-General assured full support to raise funds for the trial and also provided political and moral support to Bangladesh in this regard.
The Ambassador also requested the Secretary-General to take steps to repatriate the Rohingya to their homeland in Myanmar.
Referring to Bangladesh as an active member of the OIC, the Secretary-General requested for various events in Bangladesh that would help increase Bangladesh’s engagement with the organization.
