Nusrat murder case verdict Oct 24

The verdict for the murder case of Feni’s madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi will be delivered on October 24. 

On September 30, Judge Mamunur Rashed of Women and Child Repression Prevention Court fixed the date after the arguments of the state and the prosecution. 

The case was handed over to the Police Bureau Investigation on April 10. After investigation, the PBI gave the chargesheet in the court accusing 16 people on June 29 this year.  

The court fixed the date for the verdict on October 24 after taking the testimony of 87 persons in a total of 61 working days from June 27 to September 30.

On April 6, Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, was set ablaze for refusing to withdraw a case filed against the principal Siraj Ud-Daula for sexually harassing her late last month.

Nusrat lost her battle for life on April 10, five days after she was set ablaze at the madrasa.

Nusrat’s elder brother Mahmudul Hassan Noman filed a case with Sonagazi Model Police Station mentioning the name of eight accused including Siraj Ud-Daula. Police and PBI arrested 21 people, including eight main accused of the case. 12 people gave confessional statements involving in the murder case.
