Nusrat murder case: Death threat to witnesses

The testimony of Sonagazi Madrasah goer Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder case will begin on Thursday. Feni's Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mamunur Rashid fixed the day after the hearing on the charge sheet on June 20.
Nusrat's brother Mahmudul Hassan Noman, classmates Nishat Sultana and Nasrin Sultana alleged that witnesses were threatened before the testimony.
They said that their families are being directly and indirectly threatened not to witness in court on Thursday. Even death threat also received.
The plaintiff's lawyer M. Shahjahan said, the testimony program will begin on Thursday by taking testimony of Nusrat's brother and her two classmates.
Investigation officer of the case Shah Alam said, on May 28, charged sheet against 16 people has been submitted to the Feni judicial magistrate Zakir Hossain's court. On May 30, the case was sent to the court of Feni's Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal. The hearing was done on 10th June on the charge sheet.
On March 27, Alim examinee of Sunagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasah, Nusrat Jahan Rafi’s mother Shirin Akhter, filed a case against Madrasah’s principal Siraj ud-Dowla accusing sexual harassment. On April 6, after not taking up the case, a group of masked people attempted to burn Nusrat with kerosene on the roof of the adjacent building near Madrasa. Nushrat Rafi died in the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 11 after fighting for life for five days.
