Nusrat murder: Last accused Kader arrested

Police arrested Hafiz Abdul Quader (26), the last accused in Feni's Madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder case.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested him from the capital's Mirpur area at around 11pm on Tuesday.

A source of PBI confirmed this on Wednesday.

Abdul Kader's maternal uncle Mahbubul Alam said that PBI arrested Kader from his elder brother Rahim's house near Chapra Mosque adjacent to 60 feet area of ​​Mirpur around 11pm on Tuesday.

Abdul Kader identified as son of Abul Kasem of Pathanbari of East Sapharpur village under Amirabad union of Feni. He is a teacher of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasah Department as well as Fazil second-year student of the same madrasa. He stayed in the teacher hostel of the Madrasa as a loyal follower of Siraj.

He left the hostel for the native village after setting on fire to Nusrat on April 6. While Nusrat's elder brother Mahmudul Hasan Noman filed case mentioning eight people including him on April 8, he went into hiding. Police and PBI have arrested 18 people, including eight people who have been involved in the case.

Nusrat was an Alim examinee of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa. She was assaulted sexually by madrasa principal Siraj udDaula. Nusrat's mother Shirin Akhter filed a case with Sonagazi Police Station on 27 March. Then police arrested the principal. Nusrat's family was threatened by the principal in various ways to withdraw the case.

Nusrat went to the Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa Center to conduct the first Arabic examination of Alim exam at 9am on April 6. During this time, the miscreants called her on the roof. There she was torched with combustible substances. Nusrat died on Wednesday night at 9am at the burn unit of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
