Not public transport but goods transport will remain suspended for nine days on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, aiming to contain the spread of coronavirus.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said it was a misunderstanding that public transport was suspended at the beginning of a meeting at the secretariat on Wednesday afternoon.

"Even before today's meeting, we said public transport would be suspended for five days before and three days after Eid," the state minister said. That was a misunderstanding. It has now been decided that any transport of goods will be suspended. The discussion has been held with the Cabinet Secretary in this regard.

"There is a misunderstanding here," he added. The decision that has been taken here is that any type of vehicle carrying goods will remain suspended for nine days ahead of and after Eid.

Earlier, he had said at the beginning of the meeting that public transport would be closed for nine days. In that case, Those who want to go to their village homes to celebrate Eid will have to go five days before Eid and those who want to return home will have to return three days after Eid. But now the decision has been canceled and there is no barrier to go home and return to Capital.
