Martyred freedom fighter’s Wife Nur Zahan said, “They had killed my husband during liberation war then why didn’t I get anything? Bangabandhu sent two thousand takas after liberation war and none paid any heed later. I recite holy Quran on the death anniversary of Bangabandhu.”

Nur Zahan identified as wife of martyred Shamsul Haque, resident of Charsabhikari in Chardarbesh Union Parishad under Feni district.

After 47 years of independence, her husband's was not recognized as a freedom fighter. But his name was listed in the central Shaheed Minar of Sonagazi. Even after giving all the evidence, her husband didn't get recognition of martyred freedom fighter in the government list.

She has no shelter and runs her life by begging, passing her final phase of life with weal and woe. Local political leaders grabbed her allocated room. One of his three sons Jamal is physically disabled and two are day laborers. She also runs physically disabled son’s expenses.

Nur Zahan said that Razakar men took away her husband and brother-in-law in 1971. Later they were killed.

She also told that Bangabandhu sent a letter to her and her Mother-in-law expressing condolence with four thousand taka in 1972 but after death of Father of the Nation, none helped them at all.

Upazila freedom fighter commander Sayed Nasir Uddin said, “Martyred Shamsul Haque and his brother Abu Naser are real freedom fighter. Name list of this duo has been sent to the ministry for consideration as per Nur Zahan application.”
