38 policemen infected, two battalions under lockdown
Noakhali reports 90 coronavirus cases in a day

90 more COVID-19 patients, including 38 policemen have been reported in Noakhali. So far, the district has recorded 665 infection cases.
District Civil Surgeon Dr. Mominur Rahman confirmed the information on Sunday noon.
He said their samples were collected on May 28 and 29 and then sent to Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College and Noakhali University of Science and Technology (NUST) lab for tests. Later on Saturday night, they were reported COVID-19 positive.
Among the newly infected, 38 are policemen; and the rest are from different professions. And 46 of them were placed in isolation at the temporary coronavirus hospital at Maizdi Shahid Bhulu Stadium.
On the other hand, out of 665 coronavirus victims in the district, 565 people are receiving treatments in their respective homes. An elderly man has been sent to a hospital to Dhaka for treatment. He is currently healthy. Besides, 41 of them have recovered and returned home. So far, 12 people have died of COVID-19 in the district.
He added that almost everyone who was identified was suffering from fever and cough. Their samples were collected on the basis of such news.
Noakhali SP Alamgir Hossain said the district's 38 police personnel have been infected with the coronavirus and the Chaumuhani Police Battalion in Begumganj and the Sonapur Police Battalion in Sadar have been placed under lockdown. Chaumuhani Bazar, the commercial center of the district administration, has been locked down for the third time from Sunday till June 7 due to the increase in coronavirus transmission in the district.
