Noakhali Housewife molestation: Probe body finds negligence

The investigation committee has found negligence in the incident of assaulting a woman by stripping her naked in Noakhali.

The investigation report was presented on the bench of Justice Md. Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Mohiuddin Shamim on Thursday. 

“The woman's husband was involved in the incident,” the investigation report said, mentioned that there were negligences of chowkidar, member-chairman and OC of Begumganj police station.  

The report also recommended action against those involved in the negligence.

After seeing the report, the High Court remarked about Delwar, the main accused, he got this power under the political influence. And the court thanked the investigation committee for the report.

Earlier, the High Court directed to remove the video footage of a woman being attempted to rape and stripped naked in her home in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali from social media. At the same time, the court directed to keep the video copied on CD or pen drive. The BTRC chairman was asked to implement these instructions. Besides, the court directed the Noakhali Superintendent of Police to provide all kinds of security to the woman’s family till the criminal case filed in the incident is settled.

At the same time, the High Court had formed a committee to look into whether the police had any negligence in taking the victim’s statement on the incident. Led by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Noakhali, the District Social Service Officer and the Principal of Chaumuhani Government SA College were asked to investigate the incident. 

The report was submitted to the Registrar of the High Court at the end of the investigation as per the direction which was presented in court today, said Abdullah Al Mamun, who had earlier brought the matter to the notice of the court.
