Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today remarked that there is no weakness in the proposed budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year.
He was responding to a question from reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Virtual Economic Affairs and Government Procurement chaired by the Finance Minister on Wednesday.
“If we can identify low-income people and bring them into the mainstream of the economy, our economy will be more prosperous in the future,” he said.
Replying to a query on what was the weakness in this year’s budget, the Finance Minister said there is no weakness in the budget. “I do not want to mention any particular segment. We will see who will be the beneficiaries when the budget starts to be implemented. We have prepared this budget to cover those with whom you have questions.”
“We believe and the Prime Minister has instructed us that if we can identify low-income people and bring them into the mainstream of the economy, our economy will be more prosperous in the future,” he also said, adding: “We believe in this principle and continue to do so.”
Asked about the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) report that there are about 2.5 crores new poor, the Finance Minister said, “We have our own organizations, they will look into these, as a result, can’t accept anyone’s information before getting from our organization.”
