No procession-rallies in Durga Puja: DMP Commissioner

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam urged the Hindu worshipers not to observe processions and rallies in Durga Puja during Covid-19 pandemic circumstances. At the same time, he called for observing other religious ceremonies in compliance with health rules and government guidelines.
He made the call at a coordination meeting on security, law and order and traffic management in the Dhaka metropolitan area on the occasion of Durga Puja celebrations at the DMP headquarters at 11am on Thursday.
Wishing everyone presents for the upcoming Durga Puja, the DMP Commissioner said that due to Coronavirus the national level programs are being held in a short form. No one can be allowed to enter the venue without wearing masks. In compliance with the rules of health, visitors should be allowed to enter the Puja Mandap in a short range.
At this time, some steps have been taken on the occasion of Durga Puja celebration.
The high officials of Dhaka Metropolitan Police including the representatives of various intelligence agencies, Fire Service, RAB, Answers, and leaders of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, Dhaka Metropolitan Public Puja Udjapan Committee and Bangladesh Ramakrishna Mission attended the coordination meeting.
The Durga Puja will start on October 22 through Mahasasthi and will end on October 26 with Vijaya Dashami and immersion.
