No entry in Dhaka: IGP directs

Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary, Inspector General of Police (IGP), has directed the law enforcement agencies to be strict about preventing anyone from entering the capital Dhaka and went outside Dhaka except those involved in the emergency services in the midst of public holiday to tackle the pandemic coronavirus.  

Assistant Inspector General of Police Headquarters (Media) Sohel Rana confirmed the matter on Sunday afternoon. 

He said that the IGP’s order informed to the concerned police officers that ordinary people, including laborers, could not enter Dhaka in the midst of coronavirus situation.  

Seeking the cooperation of all in dealing with the coronavirus situation, the police official said all movements were stopped. “No one can go outside Dhaka, no one can enter Dhaka.”

Referring to the direction of the IGP, Sohel Rana said, “Wherever you are, you should stay there, do not gather anywhere, Maintain social distance. Health protection is the biggest priority now.”

However, if there is an urgent need, his or her issue can be relaxed, the official said.

Coronavirus was first detected in the country on March 8. Thereafter, the virus is spreading day by day. The number of coronavirus cases is 88, nine people died and 33 people recovered, according to the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).
