Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said there was no decision to delay the schedule of the eleventh national election.

He said this on Monday evening after the meeting of the leaders of the Jatiya Oikyafroint with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda at the Election Commission building in capital’s Agargaon.

Helaluddin Ahmed said, “The leaders of the Jatiya Oikyafroint said that their 2nd-phase dialogue with the Prime Minister will be held on November 7. They requested the Election Commission to take a little time and announce the election schedule after dialogue.”

Asked whether the schedule is likely to be delayed, the EC secretary said, “At this moment nothing can be said. The commission meeting will be held on November 8 at 10:00 am. The decision will be taken in this meeting.”

“In the national election, security will be provided to polling stations, voters and polling agents,” said EC Secretary.
