Professor Ziaul Haque, chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee and chairman of Dhaka Education Board, said that students would be passed from 8th-grade to 9th-grade by self-assessment of their respective schools, not ‘autopass’.

He made the remarks in response to a query from reporters after a meeting of 11 education board chairmen at the Dhaka Education Board conference room on Thursday afternoon.

“There is no such thing as auto-promotion or autopass. Everything will be done through assessment. Even if the JSC exams are canceled, the educational institutions will assess them through their own process,” he said.

The board chairman said guidelines would be prepared to do the process properly, adding that “they would work accordingly”.

It will take some time to make this guideline, also said Professor Ziaul Haque.
