No JSC-JDC exam this year

The Junior School Certificate examination (JSC), and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations 2020, will not be held. Once the coronavirus situation becomes normal, students will be able to pass the next class through classroom assessment. The education ministry has clarified today the long waiting issue of taking this years’ JSC and JDC examinations.
Education Ministry’s Information and Public Relations Officer MA Khair confirmed the information to Daily Bangladesh on Thursday.
Mr. Khair said if the coronavirus situation is normal then the assessment will be done in the traditional way. However, this decision has not been finalized yet.
He further said that if the situation is not normal then what will be the assessment system from sixth to twelfth, how they will be promoted to the next class; The Ministry of Education is working on that issue.
Meanwhile, if the coronavirus situation is not normal, the Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni has directed to make a proposal on what could be the alternative assessment method for passing the HSC examination and the next class in various educational institutions at the secondary level.
She gave this instruction to the officials of the Board of Secondary and Higher Education, Dhaka, Department of Secondary and Higher Education, and National Curriculum and Textbook Board at a meeting on Thursday.
During the meeting, the minister said that the Ministry of Education is working on what kind of changes should be made in the education system in the coronavirus situation and aftermath.
During the meeting, she directed the teachers of the secondary, higher secondary, madrasa, and technical schools to keep the students motivated through direct communication or using social media in compliance with the hygiene rules during the coronavirus period.
The nation has been going through a long education halt due to the coronavirus outbreak since March, 17. The holiday was extended several times and was announced until August 31. Today the education ministry has declared another phase of holiday extension that will keep all the educational institutions shut down until October 3.
