The first ‘Classical Music Festival’ was organized by the Bengal Foundation in 2012. Later, the subcontinent’s largest musical festival took place six times in a row. But due to the venue complexity, this years’ festival is not being organized.

On Tuesday, Public Relations Officer of the Bengal Foundation, Rezwanul Kamal told Daily Bangladesh that no venue could be arranged for the Bengal Classical Music Festival this year. “Due to security purposes, we didn’t get permission from the Army Stadium.” Abahani field is not ready as an alternative venue; because the field development work is underway, he also informed.

Meanwhile, Bengal Foundation Director General Luva Nahid Chowdhury said, “We planned to hold the festival in November. We were trying to go back to the old venue. But that was not possible.”

As the cause, the official also said, “As our program is a night-long program we didn’t get permission from the Army Stadium due to security fact. That’s why we tried to manage the Abahani field but due to their ongoing construction they didn’t agree.” So this year Bengal Group has moved away from arranging this festival.

Earlier, on the occasion of Pope Francis’ visit to Bangladesh in 2017, the festival was organized in Abahani field as Army Stadium didn’t permit. This popular music event suddenly went out last year.
