No Bangladeshi players in CPL 2020

Bangladesh cricketers had been playing regularly in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for several years. A total of 18 Bangladeshi players put their names in the draft but none of them got a team. As a result, no Tiger cricketer will be seen in the CPL 2020.

The CPL draft was held on Tuesday after which the six franchises have revealed their team on Wednesday, including five overseas players. Most of the franchises retained three players including foreign players each from the previous year, so the chances were slim that any Bangladesh player would get a team.

The CPL is scheduled to be played in Trinidad & Tobago between August 18 and September 10 behind closed doors, subject to permission from the local government. This is the first time after the 2014-15 season that the CPL is going to be organized without the participation of any Bangladeshi player.

Tiger all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was the first Bangladeshi to play in the tournament and still holds the record of the best bowling figure (4-0-6-6) in the history of the event. Since he has been serving the ban imposed by ICC, Shakib this year could not put his name.
