New horizons to be opened in economy: Finance Minister

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said that if the proposed budget for 2021-2022 is implemented, new horizons will be opened in the country's economy.
The finance minister said this at a virtual press conference on Friday. Apart from Agriculture Minister Md. Abdur Razzak, National Board of Revenue Chairman, senior secretaries of various government ministries were also present.
At the press conference, the finance minister highlighted various aspects of budget implementation as well as the methods and steps to increase the government's revenue. He said if the proposed budget is implemented, new investments and new employment will be created. As a result, new horizons will be opened in the country's economy.
"Even though the country's economy stumbled at first due to the Corona epidemic, we have been able to overcome it," he said. "We have been able to maintain the sustainability of the economy as the government takes timely steps. Our economy is moving forward now."
Kamal said the private sector had to be facilitated to put them in the driving seat in creation of jobs and taking the country forward. Thanks to the tax measures, businesses will produce more and create more jobs.
On Thursday, the finance minister announced the national budget for 2021-22 financial year worth over Tk 6 lakh crore with 6.2 per cent deficit of the GDP.
