New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is set to form a new government within two to three weeks. She made the remarks at a news conference on Sunday after being re-elected by a landslide.
At the press conference, she said it would take another three weeks for the final results to come out. My expectation is that we will be able to form a government within this period.
However, the press conference did not say whether Jacinda’s Labor Party would form a government alone or a coalition government with more than one party.
I had informed the country’s Governor-General, Dame Patsy Reddy, that my party had the ability to form the next government, she added.
Meanwhile, Jacinda’s Labor Party won 64 of the 120 seats in the country’s unicameral parliament on Saturday.
