Nepal's Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Yogesh Bhattarai, who had earlier declared the country coronavirus free, diagnosed positive for the virus.

According to a PTI report, the 54-year-old minister diagnosed with coronavirus on October 11. He is the first minister in Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s Cabinet to contract the respiratory ailment attacked by Coronavirus.

In a statement on his official Facebook page, Yogesh Bhattarai said, "I had a corona test last Monday. But then the report came negative. As a result, I participated in several programs outside of Kathmandu. Then last Friday evening I came back to my residence and felt a mild fever. Then I understand the symptoms of coronavirus."

However, he said that he did not have any other symptoms except fever.

The minister further said that after realizing the symptoms, he requested everyone who came in contact with him to stay in isolation immediately. He also asked them to test the coronavirus.
