The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has lifted the movement ban on all types of naval vessels due to the strong cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’.
The ban was lifted on Friday morning, said Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, director of the BIWTA’s security and traffic department.
A ban on naval vessels was imposed on May 25 due to '‘Yaas’. “Movement of all types of naval vessels would be suspended until further notice,” told Md. Jahangir Alam Khan, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Shipping, the media at that time.
Meanwhile, a ferry left Banglabazar for Shimulia Ghat at 9 pm on Thursday. Later, all the ferries have been operating normally since Friday.
