Naval ambulances’ service halted due to mismanagement

Two naval ambulances which given by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Health Department for the patients of Chandpur Sadar and Haimchar upazila respectively, now out of service because of mismanagement and driver crisis.
To ensure quick health care of river terrain people Prime Minister donated the modern Naval Ambulance on October 22, 2018, is lying abandoned on the banks of Dakatia river.
Sadar upazila health officer Shahidul Islam said that we got the ambulance welfare of Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni. But the ambulance remained unused because of driver crisis. We wanted drivers and oil allocation to the Community Clinical Health Assistance Trust. Trust gave Tk 50 thousand for oil. But due to restrictions on the appointment of the driver, we did not withdraw the oil money.
The Naval Ambulance of 250-bed Chandpur Government General Hospital has also been out casted due to missmanagement for 12 years. The Navy-Ambulance was given by the Health Department worth Tk 50 lakh in 2008.
Hospital caretaker Dr. Anwarul Azim said two engines of the ambulance were damaged. The engine has been kept in Godown. The main body is spoiled on the banks of Dakatia river.
The concerned officials of the health department need to take action on driver appointment.
