National Tea Day today

National Tea Day is being celebrated today (Friday) for the first time in the country. The day is being celebrated to commemorate the date when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took charge as the Chairman of the Tea Board.
According to sources, the day will be celebrated under the auspices of the Ministry of Commerce and the initiative of the Tea Board. For this, various programs will be carried out across the country.
Earlier, a Cabinet meeting on July 20 last year decided to observe the National Tea Day on June 4.
A discussion meeting will be held at 10 am on Friday at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital after the inauguration of the National Tea Day. Besides, Bangabandhu Pavilion, tea of different institutions, rare items of the tea industry preserved in the Tea Museum at Srimangal will be displayed.
It is to be mentioned that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became the first Bengali chairman of the Tea Board on 4 July 1957.
