The Cabinet has approved the ‘National School Meal Act-2019’ which includes lunch for the government primary school students.

The approval of the draft comes at a regular meeting of the cabinet held at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam briefed reporters.

The draft states, “At least 30 percent of a child’s daily energy needs must be guaranteed by school meal. Nutrients, pulses, nutrients, locally produced seasonal fresh vegetables, fruits and eggs — will be cooked for variety in daily diet.
