NSU student killed in head-on motorcycle crash

Two people, including a university student, were killed in a collision between two motorcycles in Narsingdi. 

The accident took place at Kalaigobindapur in Nagariakandi Bridge area of Sadar upazila on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as Arif, son of Rafiq Miah of Rangamati area in Narsingdi municipality and Mukit Afsari, son of Kamal Afsari of Satirpara area and a student of Department of Law in North South University (NSU).

According to locals, after Taraweeh prayers on Thursday night, Arif went to visit Sheikh Hasina Bridge in the Nagariakandi area on a motorcycle. Mukit went there at the same time. At that time, the two motorcycles collided head-on in the Kalaigobindapur area. Arif was killed on the spot. Mukit was rescued in critical condition and taken to Sadar Hospital. Doctors sent him to Dhaka as his condition worsened. Mukit died on the way to Dhaka.

I heard that the victims were playing “motorcycle race” on the road of the bridge. Later, they lost control of their motorcycles and clashed, said Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Model Police Station.
