JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing Ltd (JHRML) Chairman Abdur Razzak has been arrested in connection with the N-95 mask scam.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested him from Segunbagicha in the capital on Monday. The commission's deputy director (public relations) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the information.

He said Abdur Razzak was arrested from Segunbagicha area around 12:30 pm. After his arrest, he was taken to the ACC office.

JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing Ltd (JHRML) has been accused of putting health-care workers at risk of COVID-19 infection by supplying fake N95 masks to the Health Ministry. The ACC had summoned Abdur Razzak for questioning in this regard.

It has been mentioned that the government allocated Tk100 crore to buy N95 masks for health-care workers involved in treating coronavirus patients. The contractor, JMI Group, was given the order of supplying masks made in the United States. However, when the masks were supplied to several hospitals, doctors questioned their quality.
