Mild heat wave likely to continue

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Monday a mild heat wave is sweeping over many parts of the country and it may continue in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today.

“The mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Dhaka, Madaripur, Dinajpur, Sayedpur, Rajshahi, Ishurdi and Badalgachhi and it may continue for the next 24 hours,” said a met office bulletin issued here this morning. 

The Met Office also forecasted that Rain and thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind may at many places over the country during the period. 

“Rain and thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Chattogram divisions,” said it.

The day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country, the bulletin added.

The highest temperature on Saturday was recorded 38.5 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur under Rangpur division while today’s minimum temperature was 20 degrees Celsius in Srimangal under Sylhet Division. 

The sun sets at 6:36 pm today and rises at 5:14 am tomorrow in the capital.
