A court in Dhaka today has denied the remand petition of model Faria Mahabub Piasha and ordered to send her to jail in a case filed for allegedly murdering a female college student named Mosarat Jahan Muniya, 21, after rape.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Debabrata Biswas’s court passed the order after a hearing on Thursday.

Earlier, Faria Mahabub Piasha was produced before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court after a two-day remand. The investigating officer then requested to keep her in jail till the investigation of the case is completed.

Piasha’s lawyer, on the other hand, appealed for bail, however, the state opposed it. After hearing both sides, the court rejected her bail petition and ordered to send Piasha to jail.

On October 3, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nevana Khair Jessie’s court granted Piasha a two-day remand.

Noted that on the evening of April 26, police recovered the body of college student Mosarat Jahan Muniya from a flat in the capital’s Gulshan. With her mysterious death, a lawsuit was filed with Gulshan Police Station on September 7 on charges of murder after being raped as per the court order. The case was later handed over to the PBI.

Muniya’s elder sister Nusrat Jahan Taniya filed the case in the Dhaka Women and Child Abuse Repression Tribunal-6.

District and Sessions Judge Begum Mafroza Parveen accepted the case and directed the PBI to investigate and submit a report. The court recorded Nusrat’s statement that day.
