Municipality polls: AL starts selling nomination forms today

The Awami League has called upon the party to collect the applications of the candidates ahead of the 25 municipal elections to be held on 28 December this year.
Nomination forms will be distributed for four consecutive days from Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Applications for party nomination have to be collected and submitted at the Awami League president’s Dhanmondi political office.
The information was given in a press release signed by Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua on Monday afternoon.
The press release said that the candidates proposed in the resolution signed by the president and general secretary of the concerned district/ upazila/municipality Awami League can purchase the nomination form.
Applications must be collected and submitted by the candidate himself or through a qualified representative of the candidate maintaining the hygiene rules and without any kind of public meeting, the press release also said, adding that “the candidates must bring a photocopy of the candidate’s national identity card (NID) while collecting the application form.”
In the first phase, the Election Commission (EC) has announced the election schedule in 25 municipalities of the country. The last date for nomination submission to the Returning Officer will be on 1 December while the selection of nomination papers will be on 3 December. Besides, the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be on 10 December.
