Mumbai set 163 for Chennai

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has started with Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings took the field in the first match. Mumbai gave a ‘medium-fighting’ challenge with the help of Saurabh Tiwary and Quinton de Kock. Rohit Sharma’s team gave Chennai a target of 163 runs to win the match.
Chennai skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to field after winning the toss. Mumbai made a great start. Piyush Chawla took the first wicket of this year’s IPL by breaking the 48-run partnership between Rohit and Kock. Kock also could not last long. Both scored 12 and 33 runs respectively.
After that, Suryakumar Yadav and Saurabh Tiwary led the team with a partnership of 44 runs. Suryakumar was dismissed for 17 runs and Saurabh for 42 runs. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja returned Dangerman Hardik Pandya in the over to dismiss Saurabh, who was the highest run-scorer for the team.
Mumbai could not make a big score as they lost wickets at regular intervals in the end. At the end of the 20 overs, the team lost 9 wickets and scored 162 runs.
Lungi Ngidi took three wickets for Chennai. Besides, Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar took two wickets each. Piyush Chawla and Sam Curran took one wicket each.
