Mullah Baradar to lead new Afghan govt

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the co-founder of the Taliban, will lead the new government in Afghanistan. The formation of the new government will be announced soon.
A source close to the group told Reuters on Friday.
According to three sources, Mullah Baradar is the head of the Taliban’s political office. He may be accompanied by Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob, son of Taliban founder Mullah Omar, and Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai.
Earlier, the French news agency AFP reported that the Taliban could announce a new government in Afghanistan on Friday. Two sources said the new administration may be announced after “Friday prayers”.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the party held a meeting in Kandahar. “The meeting was held in Kandahar province under the chairmanship of Taliban chief Hibatullah Akhundzada. The three-day talks focused on the current political and security situation in the country and social issues,” he said.
