Motorbike thieves among 41 held in Habiganj, Dinajpur

At least 41 people, including two drug traders, seven wanted accused and three motorbike thieves, three activists of Jamaat-E-Islami, were arrested from different areas of Habiganj and Dinajpur district.

In Habiganj, police, in regular drives arrested 22 persons including seven wanted accused and three motorbike thieves with motorbike from different areas of the district in last 12-hour ending at 9 am on Wednesday morning.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nazim Uddin said, they were picked up from different areas of the district on different charges.

Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.

In Dinajpur, Police, in special drives arrested 17 persons including three activists of Jamaat-E-Islami from different areas of the district in last 12-hour ending at 8 am this morning.

Law enforcers also recovered 109 bottles of Phensidyl during the drives.

During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested four persons, Birganj Thana police arrested two persons, Khansama Thana police arrested one person, Kaharole Thana police arrested two persons, Hakimpur Thana police arrested three persons and Chirirbandar Thana police arrested five persons including three activists of Jamaat-E-Islami from Amtoli area in the upazila around 7 am of the district.

Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.

Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained two drug traders with 109 bottles of Phensidyl around 11:30 pm from Dhaka Moor area in Phulbari upazila of the district.

Later, the detained persons were handed over to the Phulbari Thana police, BGB said.

The arrestees of the two districts were sent to jail.
