Mother hacked to death by son in Sylhet

A man returning from abroad has been accused of hacking his mother to death with a fishing chopper over a family dispute in Zakiganj upazila of Sylhet.
However, the police have detained him in this incident.
The incident took place at Uttar Bipak village of the upazila on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Chhayarun Begum, wife of Tayyab Ali of the village.
Mir. Abdun Naser, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Zakiganj Police Station, said that the mother and son had a quarrel on Monday night over a family dispute. At one stage, the son severely injured Chhayarun Begum as she was hacked with a fishing chopper. When the locals took him to the Upazila Health Complex, she was sent to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and Chhayarun Begum died there on Tuesday afternoon.
The OC further said that Rusna Begum, daughter of the deceased, has filed a case in the incident. The accused youth was later detained and he will be sent to court on Wednesday.
