Mother, grandmother hacked to death by drug addict son

Mother and grandmother were hacked to death by a drug addict named Imran Hossain in Jhenaidah’s Maheshpur. 

The incident took place around 3:30 am on Thursday night at upazila’s Naoda village. 

The deceased were identified as Shamshun Nahar, 80, wife of late Nur Mohammad of Noda village under Jhenaidah Maheshpur upazila, and her daughter Morzina Khatun, 45. Morzina Khatun was working as the Lab Assistant of Maheshpur Girls’ School.

Confirming the matter to Daily Bangladesh, “Rashedul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Maheshpur Police Station said, Imran often beat his mother and grandmother. He involved in a heated argument with her mother and grandmother about taking medicines.”

“At one stage, Imran stabbed them with a sharp weapon and escaped. When the mother and daughter were brought to Jashore General Hospital in injured condition around 4:15 am on Friday, the duty doctors declared them dead,” OC Rashedul Alam added.
