Their bodies were recovered from Binnakandi village in the Fatehpur union of the upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Alima Begum, wife of Hifzur Rahman, son Mizan and daughter Anisha. Hifzur Rahman was admitted to the hospital with injuries.
On a tip-off that three members of the same family had been hacked to death in the Binnibazar area, the senior police officials went to the spot and recovered the bodies, said Md. Abdul Ahad, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gowainghat police station.
“Law enforcement could not confirm the reason behind their killings and who the perpetrators are,” OC Ahad also said, adding that it is believed they have been killed at some point on Tuesday night.
