The candidacy of former foreign minister and BNP vice-chairman M. Morshed Khan was returned to contest the 11th parliamentary election from the Chattogram-8 constituency.

The Election Commission (EC) has declared the nomination valid on the last day of the appeal hearing in the Agargaon’s Election Building.

Earlier on December 2, the Returning Officer rejected the nomination papers of Morshed Khan on charges of defaming the bill after the scrutiny of nominations.

Later, he appealed to the EC to return the candidacy. The EC’s Appellate Tribunal declared it valid after the hearing on Saturday.

In this year’s election, 543 candidates filed an appeal before the EC to return back the candidacy. Of these, 310 appeals were held on Thursday and Friday. 158 people got back the candidacy. And the candidacy of more than 141 people is canceled.
